I am a Geography Teacher in Auckland, New Zealand. I have been involved in a range of different teaching experiences over the past 11 years and have just started on the most exciting of all: I am part of the foundation staff creating a new secondary school! This blog will follow my adventures and thoughts as these explorations continue.

Fostering students’ curiosity in the world is a core value of my teaching and this has seen me incorporate lots of inquiry into my teaching but also led me to discover engaging ideas like Guerrilla Geography. I also have a real passion for working with other teachers and encouraging them to add more exploration into their teaching practices. Here’s a video of me spreading the word about Guerrilla Geography from 2012:

  3. Hi Steve. I’m wondering if you are the teacher who invited me & my WCC colleagues to Wellington High School in about 2010 or so to facilitate a student deliberation about the Town Belt. If so, and if you are still interested in deliberative democracy, I’d be grateful to reconnect at some stage. I’m no longer at WCC. Si
